While Pile rugs are usually preferred by royal families and other well-to-do people, the Kaleen, or flat weave, types of rugs are preferred by many villagers for their ruggedness and utility.

This rugs was woven flat, and then the designs were embroidered on the top by hand.

This rug contains symbols of birds, which represent freedom, as well as stars, which represent good luck.
